Recently on my Instagram I made the decision to flip it from a personal account to a business account. By flipping this switch, I can begin to get more insights into the engagement on my posts and better plan my social strategy. Oh wait, you don’t do this with your social media accounts?!?! Yes, I have problems….
While making this change, IG made me tell them what my business was. There wasn’t any way to skip this section and the options were pretty limited so I was in a pickle. While I have the Mid90s site, I didn’t want to go with blogger because my brand is going to be much bigger than just a blog. I don’t sell product yet so it really isn’t a “business” yet so I was pretty much stuck there as well. I make tons of playlists on Spotify and have a following there but unfortunately there wasn’t a section for “curator”. So I did the unthinkable. I went with DJ.
This is so wrong! I am not a DJ at all. Sure I’ve owned turntables but I’ve never mixed. I don’t even have Serato so I’m not even a digital DJ. I’ve made mixtapes, mix CD’s, and playlists my whole life but in no way does that make me a DJ. What is Hermie (DJ Herm) going to think about me all the way out in Tucson? What is Tenshun going to think of me? What about Alina’s husband KB? Yams might even shake his head if I call myself a DJ so I have to tread carefully here. You see these are actual DJ’s and button pushers but not me.
But I do get those DJ types of questions. I’m not spinning at parties so I don’t get song requests but I am getting playlist requests from friends. KevBoneSlice has been hot with the requests lately and even my homie Tony came in recently with one. He said, “Timmy, where is your classical music playlist at?” A normal person who makes playlists might just be honest and say they don’t have one but me??? I took it as a challenge of course! I needed a classical music mix anyway to prepare for baby boy coming later in the year.
While I hope that one day I can listen to UGK and Project Pat with my son I know we’ll literally have to take baby steps first. And baby steps is this new playlist I’m dropping on you today. This isn’t classical music as a whole but these are the classical songs that I enjoy. Mellow calming piano to listen to while you work, study, relax, clean, and sleep. Also really good to help you focus! Am I missing songs on this? Absolutely… Drop them in the comments… I’ll add to the playlist as I see fit. I honestly just hope that Tony is into it and if so, the mission was accomplished. So yes Tony, I do have a classical music playlist!
