When you think summer banger, what comes to mind? If you’re answer wasn’t “Summertime in the LBC” by The Dove Shack then I don’t even think we can talk. I mean… Let’s be real for a quick sec… “Summertime in the LBC” checked so many boxes. It was an absolute west coast smash that had some rapping, some singing, and just had that vibe that you want in a 90’s west coast rap song.
I don’t recall hearing much from The Dove Shack outside of this hit single and their big feature on “This is the Shack” from Warren G’s debut album. But C-Knight, Bo-Roc and 2Scoops’ contributions on their hit single was enough for me. I think I might have first heard it on The Show soundtrack but it might have been on the radio earlier than that dropped. Regardless of the first time I heard this classic, it deserves some spin from you on the 4th. This is what the holiday is about. Turning up the ghetto blaster and letting the 90’s g-funk hits smash in your backyard.
If you’re not singing the words to the chorus by the end of the track you’re just not catching the vibe here. Press play and let this riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.
